Anas Rashid declines 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' offer yet again…

Anas Rashid who essays the lead role of Sooraj in Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum has in no time garnered quite a lot of popularity, and this is very evident in the fact that he has been getting many meaty reality show offers of late.

The talented actor was offered the opportunity to take part in the previous season of Colors’ reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Anas had then gone on to decline the offer as he was very much committed to his show. And now, he has yet again been considered for the latest season of Jhalak.

Talking about it, Anas said, “Yes, it is true that I was offered Jhalak last year. I could not take it up as I was busy shooting for the Singapore stint of Diya Aur Baati Hum then. This year, I was again approached for the dance reality show. I refused it once again as I understand how difficult it is to manage two shows at a time. I have been seeing Neelu Vaghela (aka Bhabho of Diya) juggle between our show and Jhalak. And I realized that I cannot manage two shows at a time and give my best shot at both. As for now, I simply want to concentrate on my serial.”

Anas, we admire your sincerity towards your work!!!

Rohit Khurana assures fans of Dil Ki Nazar Se…Khoobsurat that 'his show will soon rise up to the occasion'

Sony Entertainment Television’s Dil Ki Nazar Se – Khoobsurat, produced by Shashi-Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt. Ltd has not had a good start in terms of numbers. However, the lead of the show Rohit Khurana is not perturbed with the early results.

Showing off a brave front, Rohit told Tellychakkar.com, “I do not care about the ratings (0.6 TVR). I am just concentrating on doing good work.”

He went on to say, “It would be too early to say anything as it takes time for the story line to hit pace. The story is new and the maha episode drama, of who will the suitor of Aaradhya (Soumya Seth) be, is beginning to take big proportions. Even the channel and makers are not perturbed. It is always better to progress like a tortoise rather than taking huge jumps at the start only to fizzle out later.”

On his show being slotted opposite big competition at the 7.30 PM slot on other channels, Rohit said, “Sony is trying to experiment with the new time slot and there is stiff competition coming in from other channels. I am sure we will soon rise up to the occasion.”

Rohit, we salute your patience and hard work!!!

Debina Bonnerjee 'eagerly looks forward' to participating in Shriman V/s Shrimati

Debina Bonnerjee is excited to take part in Star Plus’ extended version of Nach Baliye, Shriman V/s Shrimati along with her husband Gurmeet Choudhary.

“I love to dance, and we (she and Gurmeet) simply like to take part in reality shows either together or individually (they have done Pati Patni Aur Who as a Jodi, while she has done Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout, Star Ya Rock Star and Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi Ki individually). We took up this Boys V/s Girls face-off as it is a short journey (3 weeks) show. Had Shriman V/s Shrimati been a longer affair, we would not have done it. Gurmeet has just won Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and it would have been too much of stress on him.

When asked about competing with her husband in the show, Debina stated, “We are not really taking it as a stiff fight. We are here to have fun. I hope to enjoy dancing with the girls’ team. We will be doing solo performances, performances in groups, and even as pairs and trios.

Debina is satisfied with the selection of Tanaaz Irani as girl team’s captain. “She is the senior most in our group and is very good with her feet.

When asked to speculate about the winner, she said, “My husband is in the opposite side and we girls are good dancers. All I would say is that ‘May the best team win’.

On the judges of Shriman V/s Shrimati, the actress averred, “Shilpa Shetty and Terence Lewis are carry-forwards from Nach Baliye 5 and we have seen how good they were in the show. As for Farah Khan, I had met her on the sets of Entertainment Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega. She is a dancer par excellence and it would be an honour to perform in front of her.

Lastly, talking about the replacement of Shilpa Shinde with Shubhangi Aatre Poorey in her SAB TV show, Chidiya Ghar, Debina explained, “I respect Shilpa’s decision to quit as she had her reasons. Shubhangi is quite talented and we have to accept that nobody is indispensable in this industry.

All the best to you, Debina!!!

Yash Patnaik goes down memory lane to narrate how he met his wife Mamta

Way back in 2001, at an office party a girl was being harassed to dance by colleagues who were in an inebriated state. She was trying her best to avoid them but they were insistent. At that time, a knight in shining armour stepped in and volunteered to dance with the damsel in distress. He danced on with her for hours despite he having two left feet. He dropped her at her doorstep late at night but she had left back her jacket on his bike. The jacket stayed with him for the next five to six years.

The guy was Yash Patnaik and the girl was Mamta Patnaik (currently producers at Beyond Dreams). They were both producers with Zee TV at that time. Though they did work under the same roof, they were merely aware of one another’s presence as they didn’t really interact as they were in different teams. Yash reminisces, “I had always found Mamta to be very sweet and cute. Had it been not for that party, I would not have got to know her better. I am not a party person anyway.

It is indeed a marriage made in heaven as both hardly have any disagreements at work. Yash remarks, “Our areas of work are very well defined. We complement one another rather than stepping into one another’s areas. Disagreements hardly happen and if they do, one of us amicably settles them.

Needless to say, the couple has been thoroughly enjoying working together. Yash comments, “It has been fantastic to work together. Had we worked in two different places we simply wouldn’t have been able to spend so much of time together. We travel together to work, have lunch together and go for channel meetings together. We do everything ‘together’.

Mamta who is shy and an introvert by nature let her husband do the talking, especially as it was a personal topic. It was evident though that she loved to hear the man she loves, go down memory lane on how they met in a very filmy manner and how their love blossomed.

We wish this talented couple all the best for their future endeavours for both films and TV.

Mitali Nag talks about her current plays

Theatre has always been TV star Mitali Nag’s ardent passion. Even while she was shooting for Afsar Bitiya she continued to perform in her play Mohenjodaro which has been written and co-produced by TV scriptwriter Akashaditya Lama. The diligent actress would take a flight from Mumbai to the place in which the play was being staged. She would perform and immediately take the flight back to Mumbai.

Mitali plays a Dravidian princess named Sugandha in Mohenjodaro. She says regarding the play, “It is a beautifully written play which has love, action, drama, heartbreak etc. The protagonist of the play Akshat is in love with her. She is also in love with him but is in denial. The climax is beautiful and comes with a nice social message.

Akashaditya adds, “From the statues in Mohenjodaro two distinct figures were extracted- one was that of a priest and the other was of the dancing girl. Mitali plays the dancing girl. She is a very dedicated artiste.

Furthermore, in the play Krishna she plays two strong women from the Mahabharata- Gandhari and Draupadi. Mitali elaborates, “We have picked the best parts of Krishna’s life in the play. It is a musical packed with songs and dances. Playing both Draupadi and Gandhari is challenging. Both are very powerful women who had to tackle with different kinds of difficult situations in their lives. The play had a grand opening in Udaipur in January. The first show received such a grand response from the viewers that we have indeed created a benchmark for ourselves. We will try to raise the benchmark every time.

Way to go…Mitali!!!
